i'm off to work all decked out. can you guess who i am? xoxo b.

nyc weekend day 2 part 2

we got back to the hotel after lunch and i changed into my jeans and new h&m flannel for a few more hours of browsing the shops. i also broke out my new mulberry bayswater for it's inaugural journey. it's so pretty, by far the nicest bag i own even nice then my quilted chanel. i picked up some new converse hightops in grey, some ysl touche eclat and some amazing jewelry from in god we trust. i love that store and they have the cutest animal pieces. i got an id bracelet with a deer charm and a chipmunk necklace that is perfection. we walked all over soho in the sweltering heat, it was over 20 degrees and humid in october, we totally lucked out on the weather. in fact it was actually really exhausting and i sort of needed a vacation from my vacation when i got back home. dinner required another outfit change, it was nyc after all. i wore my vintage leopard blouse that screams balmain to tortilla flats for more latin cuisine and monday night bingo. like cafe habana, i went to tortilla flats last time i was in nyc and had a lot of fun so i was looking forward to a good time. although, it wasn't as busy as last time i was there (no swedish frat boys either) bingo was awesome and guess who was a big bingo winner.... me! i won the last game of the night, a full card and got an awesome t-shirt and free tequila shots. i wish i had the shots of me and my tee but they're on my sister's camera along with many other pics from the trip. next time i go home i'll have her burn me a cd and i will post them up here as nyc leftovers.

nyc weekend day 2 part 1

the second day of our shopping weekend in nyc began with some sightseeing on our way uptown to 5th avenue and central park. we passed through bryant park where i had to grab a pic in the place where all the tents were only a month before. we also stopped for pics of the love sculpture and times square. after some quick shopping at sephora and victoria's secret for some essentials and some wishful browsing at chanel we went to mulberry on madison to pick up my new bayswater. the mulberry store on mercer where i'd gotten my wallet the day before didn't have the colour bayswater i wanted. after much deliberation between the chocolate darwin leather and the taupe or forest green goats leather colours i had to have the taupe. the colour was beautiful and neutral plus the goats leather is less susceptible to water damage then the darwin. it was amazing going into the shop and seeing the whole collection on all the shelves. i got to try all the different styles and have the whole experience of buying something so lux and that i've wanted for so long. i loved every minute of it. i took these pics of my giant mulberry shopper bag and my checked luella inspired dress in the barneys bathroom mirror! i had to have an impromptu photoshoot, the bathroom was just so glam, very deco. i didn't get anything i ended up keeping at barneys though my sister got a new marc bag. i bought dark blue current elliot destroyed skinny jeans but i ended up returning them as the back pockets just didn't do anything for me even they were very nice from the front. we ended the morning with stops at diesel, h&m and an amazing burger at the burger joint in the le parker meridien, so fun and yummy. after a morning of serious shopping and lugging heavy shopping bags we had to get a cab back to the hotel to unload.

what i got

i'm back from the shops and today was one of those days where everything was looking good, not just on the rack, but on me too. luckily none of the items broke the bank and i was able to get almost everything that tugged my fashion heart. at forever 21, a chanel like chain headband that i'll also wear as a necklace or bracelet and a lanvin like ribbon necklace. at urban an adorable white bow blouse that will go perfectly with my blair waldorf costume and integrate well into my wardrobe once i'm done trick or treating. finally, pay dirt at h&m. i got a great green top that's cut very similarly to the famous aa grey jersey track shirt, a flowy black tank with a heart sequin detail, blueish greenish tights and a fab pair of jeans that are a little balmain motorcycle jean blended with some current elliot worn in details. you can also see my new vintage fur that i thrifted for 20$ the other day. i love the reddish colour of it, it's very lush. kevin and i then picked up some amazing roast beef kaiser sandwiches and homemade potato salad from the corned beef house for lunch before heading home to feast, so good. he spent some dough too and bought a new north face gotham parka because frankly it's winter here already. last night it even snowed, in october!!! last winter we had the most snow in years but it didn't start until late november, i hope this doesn't mean it will be worse this year.

too cool for school

i'm off to urban, h&m and forever 21 with this look on my mind for a little retail love. check out le fashion an awesome blog where i found this photo. post more nyc stuff tonight, xoxo.

nyc weekend. day one

finally my nyc pictures. okay, so... i guess i'll start with my awesome porter flight. great service and i was feeling like brad and angie on the island airport tarmac getting into my propeller plane, very private jet esc. here are me and my sis. enjoying the flight, reading magazines and watching csi. this is my adorable free food package and chardonnay, yum. how cute is the raccoon, they are my fav. animal and inside the pack, a mini turkey sandwich, babybell cheese, melba toast and a cookie. after landing in jersey we made are way to manhattan and got our first peek of the statue of liberty and the empire state. the line wasn't too long for the holland tunnel under the hudson. it was fun to see a different way into the city after coming from jfk last march. after a quick stop at the hotel we headed to pastis for brunch. and after sharing amazing french toast and eggs we hit the shops in greenwich village. later that night christine and i went to my favourite nyc spot, cafe habana, for yummy food and free mojitos. i could eat at habana everyday. the night ended with a jump on the comfy beds at the new four points in soho. i would highly recommend the hotel. although most cabbies couldn't tell charlton street from charles it was walking distance to all soho has to offer and right on the subway line. plus, the rooms were spacious, for nyc, and the staff was really friendly. the shopping tally for day one included, a peace sign ring and skull pin from the marc store, a green mulberry bayswater wallet and a pair of brown zip front nine west booties.

letting go

trips to holts last call can be bittersweet. you often come away with amazing deals but you can also leave behind some amazing pieces. today was one of those days. between trying on amazing alexander mcqueen cocktail dresses and the row leather jackets, i left behind one of the most amazing things i've ever worn. this incredible rick owens shearling jacket. i've wanted it forever and even though it was just over 800$ which something like 2000$ off it was still too much to part with especially just after my nyc trip. it hurts my heart knowing it was close to being mine but logically i know i couldn't afford it. argh!!! it's not fair. i also tried on those blog famous marc booties and i finally got the hype over them. on the rack they're okay but on the foot they look amazing and are so comfy. again too much money even at 50% off but i will keep my eye out for further reductions.

tweeds and checks

a definite fall outfit. tweeds and plaids always bring to mind changing leaves, brisk breezes and that golden fall light. i love the mix of the teal blue and brown together. this gap shirt not only has those great colours but also very cute ruffle details on the cuffs and button placket. the jacket is also an amazing vintage find. it's not everyday you get an oversized blazer that's fitted in the shoulder and also has details like piping and slash pockets. i'm wearing both with the mulberry bag i found at the clothing show. it's my favourite mulberry next to the perfect bayswater i just got in nyc. it's the more casual of the two though so it might just get more wear. plus, i'm not afraid to ruff this one up a bit, it was 50$ after all.
