got to get going with these nashville posts or else by the time i get to them all i'll already be back in tennessee! june isn't that far away.

day 6 and 7 of the nashville adventure. super warm for the end of october, thank god i bought these shorts online or i would have melted. monday i spent the day roaming around the city, sipping coffee by the water under the watchful eye of the "batman" building and eating the world's largest sandwich. that muffaletta was lunch and dinner - for two people and was followed up with the world's largest soda while watching the footloose remake at the movies, lordy.

tuesday was full of vintage shopping in east nashville, goodbuy girls is such a great find. i bought so many great pieces and it's in my top 3 for best vintage stores ever. then mmmmmmm tacos at satco. love. especially when you get free fish tacos, score and finally we ended the night at the grand ole opry getting serenaded by little big town and keith urban. perfect.

a quick post to show you all what i got up to on new years 2012.it may be a little late, but hey i've been sick the last few days and only had the energy to play tiny tower and watch "the killing"..... anyways on with it.

i celebrated the new year with all my besties at my friends' jackie and mike's wedding. it was an amazing party and i even caught the bouquet! unfortunately, the boy was and is still in nashville so i had to go solo, the only downside to a great night. i channeled stevie nicks with my outfit, wearing a vintage sheer dress/kimono over a body con mini and lace tights with lots of gold touches. so fun. i also had to throw in some pictures of jackie, looking gorgeous in her monique lhuillier wedding dress, unbelievable. hope you all had a blast at your new years events and i wish all my lovely readers a fantastic 2012. xxc

it's fitting that my final post of 2011 is a nashville post because the two weeks i spent there were truly the best two weeks of the year.

on day five in tennessee the boy and i took a tour of the ryman auditorium. it's the "church of country music". it's an incredible concert hall with arguably the best acoustics in the world, so much history in those walls. displayed in it's halls are all the hatch show print posters that have been made for recent shows held at the ryman. i wish i could have seen them all, bruce springsteen, van morrison, patty griffin, the list goes on and on...

day 3 in nashville - headed over to hillsboro village to check out the shops and grab breakfast at fido cafe. i ate their mcfido (above picture) sandwich 3 times while i was in nashville #obsession it's a must visit, great atmosphere, coffee and food. after buying a gorgeous wooden ships knit from posh boutique and some jewelry at pangaea the boy and i walked over to the belmont university area to check out a vintage store called local honey. i bought a 90's floral maxi skirt, but unfortunately not the incredibly rad patrick swayze shirt i'm wearing above. there are so many cute houses and buildings in the area so i grabbed some outfit shots in front of one. i had to show you guys my "tammy taylor" jeans, can't go to tennessee without some flares.

later that night i changed into my favourite bruce springsteen tee and the boy and i headed to paradise park (i left the new cowboy hat at home). every friday and saturday the jason james band plays the country/rock classics and they kill it. by midnight the astroturf floor is soaked with beer and everyone is singing along to every song. especially these two... the kids still love them some garth.

how do i even start with nashville? i had truly the best time and i wish that i was still there... in fact being back home put me in quite the funk, missed my love and missed the city itself. still, i can't wallow forever, so hopefully getting back to the things i love, like this little blog, will help me get through the long distance heartache.

day one in nash. was a write off. i travelled all day, was awake for 30+ straight hours (flying anxiety) - all i wanted to do was get there and see the boy. the exploring didn't start until day 2 with a walk down to broadway (if you don't know nashville that's where all the bars/honky tonks are and it's the main downtown strip). on the way we made a detour through printer's alley. a small side street of bars and one famous "gentleman's club" that are all housed in former bordellos, ooooh scandalous.

on broadway we popped into robert's western world for a refreshment(s) and then onto hatch show print, an awesome old school print shop that creates a lot of the posters for nashville concerts. i fell in love and wanted to buy all their pieces.

i loved this wall - blog shots time. my boy was so sweet to humor me with all the pictures.

we finished the day at the foot of broadway by the cumberland river. there are so many great public spaces in nashville.

that night we went to jacks, the most famous bbq spot in nashville and it did not disappoint - serious hangover after that meal. i love how in nashville you can get sweet tea and lemonade everywhere #arnoldpalmersaremyfavourite

so addicted to these h&m striped shorts...

i picked them up late night shopping at the forum shops in vegas in april and wore them all summer long (kid rock shout out). so comfy, sweet looking, versatile and only 9$, what more could you want. i wore them two ways on this particular day, here's look one paired with my levis oversized denim and my favourite zara leopard loafers, which of course destroy my poor feet. ah well everything can't be as perfect as these shorts.

with fall finally arriving i can once again pile on the layers and enjoy all the best parts of fashion, chunky knits, coats and boots - lots of boots.

i wanted to let all my ontario readers know that on wednesday august 25th (my birthday otherwise i'd be able to attend) there will be a charity fashion show happening at the Ambassador Banquet Hall in Caledon, Ontario. the Couture Fashion for a Cure Fund, was created by Hattie Dunstan, a fellow fashion blogger, and raises money for cystic fibrosis. Hattie battled the disease her whole life until she finally received a lung transplant last year, unfortunately she developed a brain tumor from her organ rejection medication. even with so much struggle in her own life Hattie is still doing all she can to help find a cure for CF and last year raised 30,000$. this year's event begins at 6:30pm and features fashion shows, guest speakers, live music, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. tickets cost 45$ and all proceeds got to charity. for more info on where to get tickets and directions visit the website. http://cfforcf.com

on the road to the grand canyon - arizona highway photo shoots with no cars for miles

that first breathtaking look - unbelievable

at the first viewpoint in my moccs - hazy, windy days and colorado river views

the elements got to me and i had to put the sweater, sunnies and chucks on.

unforgettable - the grand canyon

the drive there was almost deserted, until right outside the park and i kept replaying the national lampoon's vacation song in my head...

the canyon itself, unforgettable/jaw dropping/powerful.

it makes you feel insignificant with it's grandeur and that it's been there forever, literally.

although not as hiker friendly and varied in views as some of the utah parks (you would probably need weeks to truly appreciate all it has to offer), i highly recommend a visit. i hope next time i'll have more than a day there and i'll be able to actually travel into the canyon and along the colorado river. definitely my favourite picture taking spot of the trip, which means there's a part two to this post coming soon..

the morning held a drive into paradise, lots of photo stops and a hike up the emerald pools trail. with three waterfalls and cool pools to break up the two hour hike, stunning. it was so warm i lost some layers along the way before completely changing in the afternoon. i couldn't imagine doing the hike in the middle of summer... spring and fall really are the perfect times to experience the wild of utah.

leaving arches was a bittersweet moment, good because there was lots more adventure ahead, but we'd be missing the park and our home away from home at castle valley inn. we made a few photo op. spots on our way back to kanab, not to mention a middle of nowhere successful! search for nail polish remover, my manicure did not last...

we made a quick detour to bryce canyon national park. it's not as hiker friendly as some of the other parks in utah and we've been there before, so we just went to take some pictures. i do recommend their trail rides though, such a great experience.

there was still a lot of snow up here in the mountains. definite sweater weather, the complete opposite of the next day's trip to zion.

worth the 8+hrs of driving, arches national park is the most amazing place i've ever been to in utah. the hikes were relatively easy and the views were completely breath taking. we only had one day, but we fit in 3 different trails, a lunch time side trip to moab and so many photo ops that both our cameras and my flipcam ran out of battery.

i can't even express how in love am i with this dress. the carven long sleeve twisted jersey dress.

so sexy, but the high neck and sleeves give it a sophistication and effortless feel. oh and that zipper, argh! drool. the perfect womanly dress. i haven't been able to stop thinking about it since i saw it on maxie from general hospital, a few months back, then belle (billie piper above) wore it on secret diary of a call girl after that it was just everywhere, on countless celebs and even bloggers like marie from a fashion tale. a fabulous piece from an incredible fashion line. currently the long sleeve version is hard to track down, but the short sleeve version can be purchased for around 650$. one day....

the southwest roadtrip 2011 - utah, nevada, arizona

April 9th 2011, i set out for my southwest adventure part deux. i headed back to southern utah to volunteer at best friends animal sanctuary, see the natural parks in utah, as well as the big daddy, the grand canyon in arizona and spend a day or so in las vegas. these are some shots of day one. basically we just arrived in vegas, grabbed our rental car and headed on the road, not stopping until st.george for some starbucks and target shopping. we then headed on to kanab, utah where best friends is located. it was a bit chilly and there was lots of snow on the ground up in the mountains, so beautiful. I wore my trusty h&m army coat and my new spy flynn glasses. so excited.

when it comes to h&m collaborations I haven't been excited by any offering since the stella mccartney mayhem, but even then the actual product never really lived up to the hype. whether the quality of the garments or the overall fit with the h&m brand, the clothes just haven't made me want to shop.

i've got the feeling that h&m's collaboration with hasbeens will change all this. finally two swedish icons come together and create a product that speaks not only to what's going on in fashion today, all that 70's revival, but also keeps in mind the women who shop at h&m. they're practical, stylish, quality shoes with all leather uppers and those trademark wood soles. the shoes are classics that will only get better with age. h&m and hasbeens have joined forces with bloggers to get the word out asking me and many of my favourite blogs to participate. check out the results above, featuring the girls from fabsugar, refinery29. natalie off duty and color me nana. hasbeens for h&m are in stores now! for more pictures go here. these are my favourite styles.

how stunning is emma in her lanvin gown? she does minimalism so well and the hair/make up is flawless. as for amber, she's retro gorgeous. i'm really looking forward to seeing her portray a playboy bunny in the new series that takes a look at the playboy club in 60's chicago. fingers crossed it's done well because i think she'd really shine in a roll like that.

the recent ck campaign has some amazing imagery. no doubt due to it's stellar cast: barbera, abbey lee, yuri, ruby a. et. all, but for me the stand out is lara stone (i ♥ the midriff flash and the abbey push ;) she's incredibly sexy and at the same time she does the grunge thing so well. she has this effortlessness. it's authentic and because of that, she reminds me of kate when she was modeling for calvin. great attitude.

she's also unbelievably stunning/retro lovely on her spring/summer 2011 cover of self service, shot by alasdair mclellan. this danish beauty is so versatile, so much more then just curves or a gap toothed smile.

btw. do you think the rumors are true that she has recently fixed her gap?

it may be considered controversial to put kristan, someone who not exactly know for her fashion sense unless styled for the red carpet, on what is considered america's "top fashion" magazine. personally i'm not actually a fan of us vogue nor the article and shots of kristen inside the magazine, but being a huge fan of the girl here's what i do love.

the cover. shot by testino, dreamy, fresh & beautifully styled. probably the best cover she's done ever.
she's not edged out. they showed her soft and pretty and really she's stunning and should embrace her beauty more. very reminiscent of some of the vanity fair stuff she's done.
it's an all proenza spread, which is awesome in it's own right, but i love her youth associated with the brand.
it was done when she was portraying mary lou while shooting on the road, which i hope to god is done well because it's such a epic story. hopefully the blond hair will help ensure that it's not "bella swan" on screen hanging with dean and sal. fingers crossed.

my annual work party. always the sloppiest shindig of the year, with an open bar can you blame us? i stuck to bud lights so i stayed civilized, but it was still a blast. since the party was at a rock bar this year i thought it fitting to wear something a little rougher around the edges. hence, the smokey eye, leather mini, messy hair and t-shirt. i had so much fun dancing to 90's hip hop and watching my buddy nate play with his band the commandeers. a-mazing.

it actually isn't very snowing in this shot, but i sure was cold. all bundled in my moola boots and vintage leopard print trench. i got this coat maybe 6 years ago for 70$ it feels like velvet, so lush. i wore it so much when i first got it, but it's been hiding in the closet for a while and it was about time for a revival. that's the best thing about vintage you can hang on to it forever and keep re-introducing it into your wardrobe. tomorrow you get too see the outfit underneath...

i've long been enamoured with miss stewart, but lately her knotted over sized "rob" tops and sour "i hate fame" attitude has put me off. that is until i saw her tonight on the people's choice awards, so adorable. she looked amazing, those legs! the sheer bit on the straps and back, the sparkle and i adore.. adored! the hair and make up. so lovely. her presence was the only part of the show that caught my attention, except for when minka kelley and leighton meester quickly appeared on stage together and blinded me with beauty. now if only kristen would wear some burberry i would be beyond happy.

this might just be my favourite outfit of the whole year. all the major elements also happen to be purchased in 2010. you may recognize this set because i got my head shot for loulou magazine from it. there was such pretty lighting on my porch that afternoon. i wore this for one of my favourite lazy day activities book shopping/starbucks lounging. i've probably spent more on books than clothing since i got back from nyc, i need an intervention! jj. i like buying books you can't stop me..;)

after weeks of zero blogging motivation the sudden realization that i have numerous "2010" outfits still to post and it's dawning on 2011 is kicking my o.c.d. into gear. now there's no way i can post them all today, to start fresh in the new year, but you will get one a day until they're done, so yeah! for new material. this look is beyond old, maybe mid-october? i finally figured out that the perfect companion to my vintage betsey johnson floral shorts is a loose cropped top. i adore the heart knit on this piece and that it's from the brand, pelican cove. i remember my sister shopping there when i was little, but it was closed down by the time i got old enough to wear their stuff. in fact, it seams the whole outfit is vintage :) love that. i also tossed in a mirror shot for old times sake.
