in the hood

i'm completley obsessed. i need a smythe swing coat.
i love the hbc limited edition version below and the classic navy here.
unfortunately, the hbc one is only available in vancouver and the classic is nowhere to be found online. if anyone knows where i can get one in a size 4/6 or finds one in their town let me know!! how amazing is that hood. i wish i was rachel bilson right now...
oh.. to all those waiting for a new vlog. i tried to shoot today but the lighting is horrible in this weather. i will try and have one or two videos up this weekend though.

going for gold

i really want an olympic coat.
the hudson bay company/smythe has done such a good job with the merchandise.
how freakin' cute is rachel. i just want to put her in my pocket she's so adorable. rach and her boy were in vancouver for the can/us hockey game this weekend.
every moment i'm at home the olympics are on, i've seen canada win all 7 of their golds so far and have never felt so patriotic. i really feel the games are truly uniting and energizing the normally reserved/humble canadian spirit.
oh, i wish i was in vancouver right now waving my red maple leaf mitts...

the amazing josh beech. my favourite male model. not only is he incredibly hot but he has a great much attitude and such a genuine smile. i love his style too and all his tattoos and piercings. josh is quite accessible too, he tweets on the regular and leads up a band, snish.

glowing hearts

my winter uniform. skinnies/leggings/ random tee/oversized cardi/boots/huge parka.
boring really. but no one can see what i'm wearing anyway under all the layers.
that said this is a look i love, comfy, easy, natural.
the cardi is a winter09 fav. i picked it up in the men's department at the gap and paired with my fav. shearling moccasins, it makes me very happy.

off to watch the olympics and later dream of marc and mulberry on style.com. i watch the games all day, go canada! and only take breaks to scan the collections online and watch cheesy 90's sports movies like the cutting edge | toe pick |
so far my stand out collections from nyfw have been rag and bone, rebecca taylor, helmut lang and marc jacobs + i loved alexa's madewell line. def. have to make a nyc trip for that.

tragedy - rip. lee alexander mcqueen

i was shocked today to hear that the incredible alexander mcqueen passed away. he was a true visionary, artist and innovator. every season he pushed the boundaries not only in his designs, but also in his presentations. i don't have the pleasure of owning a mcqueen piece, but i did try on a gorgeous, but simple velvet strapless dress of his last year. i was so impressed with it's construction, simple lines on the outside but inside the dress was an intricate corset. it fit perfectly and made my body look amazing, he really knew how to dress a woman's body so it looked it's best. on top of his obvious talent, the man himself was such a character. i'll always remember him flashing the crowd his union jack boxers! above are some of my favourite shots of him and one of sienna wearing a favourite of his dresses. i'll always remember energy, your smile, your awe inspiring runway shows, esp. the kate hologram below and all your beautiful designs.
a true original.
you are a legend mr. mcqueen and greatly missed.

the little rascals

i know the outfit posts have been a w o l but i got off my lazy bum and finally uploaded a bunch off my nikon. this look was inspired by an outfit that alexa chung wore to the louis vuitton fashion show. just a simple oversized navy cardigan worn as a dress. i went a little more modest and wore mine with leggings instead of tights like alexa, but this was for real life and not sitting front row. i found this amazing cashmere baby at courage my love, a great vintage store in kensington for 40$ love it! it has great gold hardware, you may remember it from a vlog haul a while back. i also got my lovely homeless kitty friend rascal to make an appearance... even if the flash made him look like a possessed little kitty demon.
