gilded frames

a total impulse buy - these zara sunnies
unfortunately, the mix of both huge lenses and gold brilliance was a little much for me and i ended up returning them. it was fun running around in them for a day.
i'm also wearing my fashion drug of choice, a vintage 90's floral mini
picked up a my favourite new toronto vintage shop penny arcade on dundas
wearing: topshop cardi, vintage dress, belt and boots, zara sunglasses, marc by marc jacobs sookie bag

get 'er done

got my work boots on... i adore these. so cute, versatile and if you overlook my lack of driving skills when wearing them, very comfortable. so what if i have to take them off every time i drive? better safe than sorry. my favourite thing to wear them with right now are my jbrand cargos, this is actually the first time i wore them out after scoring them during a shopbop sale. in the spring i think they'll also look great with a little floral dress.

what are your favourite buys of 2010? any disappointments?

buttoned up

i took inspiration from miss alexa chung for this take on a preppie look. she loves to layer cardigans over button downs and i just adore the combo. the vintage rabbit vest adds a layer of warmth that really wasn't needed as it spent most of the day folded in my shopping bags. one of my favourite recent looks because i'm wearing some of my favourite things. my vintage eagle belt buckle, locket necklace, marc bag and boys polo plaid plus, it kind of reminds me of fall which is my favourite time of year. ****can you see the evidence of my er obsession, and springsteen and sienna gracing my walls.
cardi: zara, plaid: thrifted boys polo, belt/necklace/vest: vintage, boots: frye, skirt: american eagle, bag: marc by marc jacobs

hot flashes

it's funny how this spring has worked out. these shots are from a few weeks back and between now and then it's been so warm i'd have been crazy to wear an outfit this bundled up. of course, this weekend it snowed, so i'm back to layering once again. scarfs to shorts to shearling coats.
this coat is one of my very favourite pieces so i'm not too mad it's cool enough to wear it again. i found it two winters ago at badlands vintage. in fact, i'm wearing something from all three of my favourtie vintage shops, the coat from badlands on ossignton, the boots from 69 vintage (so comfy i can actually walk a mile in these) on queen and the denim vest from sub rosa in the market.

pizza cats

i was reminded today that it's been quite a while since i posted a new outfit and i could give you a stream of excuses why, but really why not just get to the look instead.
i love the idea of pairing a sexy body con skirt with a loose tee, extra points if it's vintage. i think it tones down the look and makes it a lot more wearable/day appropriate. although this is also how i'd style a skirt like this for night too, i just feel a lot more myself when things are a bit messy or casual...

pocket full of posies

all i want to wear right now is florals. this dress is a perfect example, dusty muted print, long sleeved mini, 100% vintage perfection. i styled it two ways, one ideally with the best marc by marc boots and one realistically in chucks. you can't work all night in 4 inch heels, at least i can't. i love how i found the perfect pink nail polish to match the flowers and i adore my fav. blind melon engraved lyric tag/dream catcher necklace.
sweater: mango (thanks mom), dress: vintage, tights: tabio (thanks guys), shoes: marc by marc jacobs/chucks, necklace: diy, polish: rimmel kick start

the little rascals

i know the outfit posts have been a w o l but i got off my lazy bum and finally uploaded a bunch off my nikon. this look was inspired by an outfit that alexa chung wore to the louis vuitton fashion show. just a simple oversized navy cardigan worn as a dress. i went a little more modest and wore mine with leggings instead of tights like alexa, but this was for real life and not sitting front row. i found this amazing cashmere baby at courage my love, a great vintage store in kensington for 40$ love it! it has great gold hardware, you may remember it from a vlog haul a while back. i also got my lovely homeless kitty friend rascal to make an appearance... even if the flash made him look like a possessed little kitty demon.
sweater: vintage, leggings: h&m, boots and bag: marc by marc jacobs, tee: american apparel nailpolish: essie mint candy apple

from portugal with love

wearing a bunch of my gifts from portugal here.
the cozy crop sleeved cardigan, over the knee socks and gorgeous silver and gold ring.
i loved the way the sweater and dress complemented each other, the sleeve and hems lengths and the colour. it's as if they were made to wear together. a great fall outfit that can be easily warmed up for winter by adding tights under those scrunched socks.
** i got my hair cut on friday you'll see it in my next vlog post.
cardi: mango, dress: urban outfitters, socks: calzedonia, scarf: h&m, boots: vintage guess, bag: marc by marc jacobs, ring: gift, polish: wild lilac by gosh

desert lover

this may be a picture from september but it was actually warm enough this weekend to pull off this look, so i think it's ok to post it late. i'm wearing a favourite vintage skirt that would be perfect if it had buttons running up the front of it and my desert inspired aritzia tee.
**new video up wednesday and news about an exciting new partnership for the blog, check back soon... goodnight lovelies.

marc by marc jacobs spring/summer 2010

i loved the new marc by marc collection, as always. amazing pops of colour and mash up of prints.
the button up heart shorts, studded and heart print bags, striped skinnies, relaxed knit dresses/pants/jumpsuits, leopard coats and tees and high waisted skirts were stand outs.
i also adored the hair and make up. stephanie at le chic gave me the heads up on it when she twittered the models look after the show yesterday (thanks lady!). the hair bows and bright lips, so fresh and fun.
i really enjoyed the collection. i love that it's moving away from the rocker/leather/grungy look but still retained some hints of it like the bags and slouchy trackies because, as much as the look has saturated the market it's basic feeling/elements will always be cool.
