fashion and beauty haul #2
this is my second haul video. it features recent beauty purchases from gosh and mac cosmetics, as well as all the goodies my parents picked up for me on their trip to portugal. i'm a very lucky girl.
as always, i appreciate feedback on these videos and if there are any particular things you'd like to see in them.
i will probably do another haul video after i return from my nyc trip next week, because i'm sure i'll be doing a lot of shopping.
***side note, how good is gossip girl and vampire diaries so far? i'm loving them. it was so sweet when chuck was trying to keep blair motivated on her school domination this week, he's the best. i;m also freakishly obsessed with hell's kitchen, which is weird as i've never watched the show before. i really want dave to win, team one armed bandit. he would fit in perfectly in whistler.

kings of leon - hamilton 19/09/09
it was one of the best shows i've ever seen and i've seen some amazing acts. it had a lot to do with the crowd/band dynamic. the boys were loving us, calab was smiling the whole time. he said after the first 4 songs we were the best crowd all tour and that coming into hamilton they weren't expecting much (if you've never been to hamilton it's a city of 500,000 and they make steel there so half the city is pretty waterfront and half of it is towers of flames and piles of rock) but they'd never come to canada again if hamilton wasn't on the bill. calab said we made the show an experience the band would never forget. they were joking with us and with each other about how they couldn't even hear themselves, everyone was so loud and into it. they bowed for us forever after their 3 encore songs. i was standing dead center, ten rows in and stared at caleb all night but there was no sign of lily. although the place was packed so she could have been there. as for their reputation of no stage presence i must disagree, they were dancing around, very talkative and rocking out. whoever says that hasn't seen them with a good crowd because they were phenomenal last night. caleb was also drinking gatorade most of the night so perhaps that made a difference. i can't wait to see them again! but if the show isn't as good i'll look to the words of the boys, "if it's not forever, if it's just tonight, it's still the greatest!" nothing can tarnish the memory of last night.
i went with my sister. thanks for these pictures christine! it was her birthday present from me. you can see us above.
i wore my vintage over the knee boots, new hudson jeans. wildfox tank that exposed my mesh aritzia bra, zara scarf, twenty8twelve leather jacket, mulberry brooke bag,and oakley glasses.

utah part 3. bryce canyon
the last national park i visited on my utah trip was bryce canyon, about an hour north of kanab. it was another beautiful drive and you knew you were getting closer when you started seeing hoodoos. hoodoos are tall columns of rock that were eroded down by the wind. it's the big draw at bryce, where there's a canyon full of them, as you can see in the photos. it was much colder in bryce so we didn't do the walk through the hoodoos instead i took a horse trip into the southern end of the canyon and my mom did a similar trail but by foot. the final two shots are ones she took from inside the canyon. the scenery was out of the world and the two hour ride was amazing. i have some pictures of me on my mule shamrock and some pictures from our last two days in las vegas but they're on my mom's camera so i'll post them at a later date.

zion national park
the second part of my utah trip started after i finished volunteering at best friends and began exploring the nearby national parks. there are so many natural wonders in the southern utah area but we only had time to see zion and bryce canyon. these are my shots from zion. when we headed out to it from kanab we passed through coral sand dunes national park which was dusted with a layer of snow. luckily it was much warmer in the park itself and ended up being a beautiful day. the scenery was amazing and my mom and i did the emerald pools hike and the riverside walk. breathtaking. after a day in the park we had dinner in springdale and stopped by best friends on the way home for some pictures. that's where we discovered that all the horse pastures get taken over by bull deer herds when everyone leaves the sanctuary for the day. so cool. zion is a great park, really user friendly and absolutely stunning. i would definitely visit again. i'm wearing: alternative apparel hoodie and baseball burnout raglan, zara wolf tee, ebayed shearling hiking boots and lululemon leggings

utah part 1.
not exactly fashion related but for those interested in my trip to utah here's part one of my recap.
after flying almost 5 hours to las vegas my mom and i hit the i.81 for our 4 hour drive to best friends animal sanctuary, just outside kanab, utah. we drove through desert and canyons listening to xm satellite radio and taking in the scenery. we traveled through nevada, arizona and utah before stopping in st. george for starbucks and groceries. when we hit zion national park it of course started pouring rain. it was kind of scary going through the tunnels and switchbacks through the mountains but soon enough we got to best friends. best friends is in beautiful angel canyon on 33,000 acres. we had to take some pics as soon as we arrived, it was so lovely. the next day after our tour we headed to dogtown to volunteer. that's where we met dixie, our sleepover dog. such a sweetie, we took her out for a long hike and then back to our cabin for some r and r. the next day we spent more time in dogtown walking and feeding the animals before i headed to the horse area to help groom the horses and clean the pastures. it was an absolutely beautiful place, and amazing organization and an unforgettable experience. it was pretty cold at the beginning of the trip so i spent most of the first three days layered up in multiple leggings and hoodie combos. thank god i brought my gloves and toque. i also broke in my new shearling hiking boots and thoroughly destroyed my white chucks in the red canyon dirt.

best friends forever
two 4hr+ plane rides, hours and hours of driving, numerous dog walks, 2 national parks and one day in the neon jungle later and i'm home. i had way more fun then i expected, spent way less money then i'd imagined and visited some of the most beautiful country and animals i'd ever seen. the reason behind my trip to utah and vegas was to visit best friends animal sanctuary and volunteer with the animals. the sanctuary is in kanab, southwest utah which is right between bryce canyon and zion national parks. it's an amazing organization and if i could have brought a dog home to canada i would have as they have such lovely animals for adoption. i flew in and out of las vegas and i spent my last day there, relaxing by the mirage pool, it was so hot! i'll post some pictures of the trip once i figure out how to get 800 photos of my camera without crashing my computer, but until then i wanted to urge you all to support best friends or your local humane society in any way you can. i've included a picture and video of my sleepover dog dixie, what a sweetie and i have a donate button on my side bar, every little bit helps! above all i hope that if you're thinking about getting a new pet you consider adopting one from best friends or your local animal rescue, there are so many animals that need a home.
