alpha bomb

wearing: alpha industries slim bomber, topshop dress, h&m hat, vintage flannel, aritzia sweater

i'm having a bit of an obsession with bomber jackets at the moment. it's in part due to a) my 90's love affair, b) a slight detective holder influence and c) a resurgence of the style once again with the fashion set, especially with the swedes. i've already purchased a new "slim line" version of the burgundy bomber i had in 7th grade. i owned a knock off at the time, but now i'm proud to finally have a real deal alpha. next, i'm eyeing the filippa k jacket julia stegner is wearing above, but i'd love a worn in vintage piece too.

paint it up, julia s.

i adore this beauty spread from elle germany, march 2005. it's the kind of make up i love in photographs but i can never pull off in real life. i especially love the pink lips. it's such a statement. i'm usually a highlighter, mascara, lipgloss kind of girl but last summer i bought a fuchsia lipstick to try and emulate a stronger look like this. i just can't feel comfortable in it though and i've never worn it out of the house. it just doesn't look like me in the mirror. now, normally i would mention a little something about the photographer of the shoot but i have no idea who it is so instead i'll focus on the model, the lovely julia stegner. the 24 year old german beauty is famous for her many campaigns including running around with anja for chloe. she's also been shot for countless editorials like a favourite desert shoot of mine, seen here. she's a maybelline girl, a victoria's secret angel and most recently she's appeared in the id magazine spread on alexander wang, check her out.

julia has fantastic street style. i love these looks below, especially the center outfit and the plaid.
i love julia's hair. she has a bit of sienna miller in her face which is very apparent in her chloe ads with anja. i think she embodies that bohemian hippie girl look. a newly found favourite.

road trip

it has been a dream of mine for some time to take a road trip across the northwest us. originally my plan was to go from vegas to san francisco by way of lake tahoe. but now i'm trying to think of how i can link in portland, seattle or park city too. perhaps starting in seattle and going south to san fran and then across through nevada and maybe utah. but, there's always the issue of why stop there and the urge to keep going into colorado. i just love the idea of getting out there and experiencing it all. logistically, it's a lot harder to imagine because i can't drive my car from toronto it would take forever and renting a car for the two to four weeks i'd need would be very expensive but i'm hopeful that one day soon i'll be able to figure it all out. this photo is a constant inspiration and a reminder of how fun it would be driving across those nevada deserts.
