pacific northwest roadtrip 2014 - day 1 - travelling to spokane, washington

If you follow me on instagram you would have seen that I went on a two week pacific northwest road trip in june. It was my favorite trip ever and over the next few weeks I will be taking you through what I experienced. lets start with day one travelling from ontario - to calgary - through fernie, bc and idaho - to spokane, washington.

on the plane to calgary with the momma airplane wear - cozy aritzia wilfred tee, vince jeggings and aritzia knit cape **the best** i have the original tna version, but this one is basically the same.
on the road again
the rockies in the distance, and the green/green/green pastures of southern alberta
basic travel make up
we stopped in fernie, british columbia for lunch (shout out to freshies coffee shop) - such a cute mountain town
the mountains around cranbrook, bc
unfortunately, it rained for most of the idaho portion of the drive. I was really looking forward to getting some pictures of sandpoint but, instead the only shot I got was this cute ad at the gas station just past the canada/us border.
the rain finally broke as we entered washington, such a good omen for the trip as we got almost no rain for the rest of it!
spokane, washington was such a nice surprise. it was beautiful and i loved hotel ruby where we stayed, such a cute brick exterior. I'm wearing my vintage levis jacket, spy alcatraz sunnies and plaid aritzia hooded flannel.
travel time 8+hrs/700km/435mls

true north obsession - vagabond grace boots

I have fallen hard for my vagabond grace chelsea boots.
not only do they look like 90s ass kicking perfection but,
they're also comfortable, with good rubber soles for winter weather.
my only complaint would be that they are a tad heavy and I can't justify buying every color... ;)
I bought mine at urban outfitters online but, you can also get yours in canada at capezio or online (solestruck has all three colorways) drool drool**
I guess joel kinnaman isn't the only hot thing from sweden ^^yo linden!

sheer obsession

i have this obsession with sheer, black, lacy, romantic pieces.
it probably goes back to pretending i was a sorceress or fairy princess as a kid, but it was rekindled when i saw this photo on tumblr:

i realize this skirt is not black, but it was the styling that inspired me to find a similar piece in the color to recreate this look. layering a dress/skirt/vest over dresses, shorts, jeans, or hell, whatever catches your fancy can add something so special to an outfit. you can take it very sexy and romantic or grungy and rock and roll, all depending on what you decide to pair under it/over it. i personally love the look for day time. i would pair my sheer black lace with a band tee or over sized knit over it and either skinnys or a body con mini under, then add chunky boots to ground the look. if i were to go more nighttime with my styling, i would channel stevie nicks - 100% witchy woman with, pointed heels or ankle boots, lots of lace/velvet/sparkle and tons or eyeliner and messy hair.
what i'm wearing this holiday season.

changing channels

 on my mind.
vintage rock tees, c.love/violet, house plants/nirvana, skate ramps/beach life, orange lips/stripes,  vans/smash - what an album, muddy eddie/clooney hoops, high waisted/daisy rings, cheer squad, bang bang/overalls, silver foil/ck alien girls, stars/big chill - what a soundtrack, smiley, ed/ved, lookbook
