real deal balenciaga

i finally made one of my fashion wishes come true last month when i purchased my first balenciaga. i've wanted for almost as long as they've been around, which is about ten years now. of course, they don't come cheap and i've only just been able to afford one. you may know that i've been lusting over the new town shape, but when it came down to canadian prices and taxes they were just too expensive. luckily i found a better way to shop for my balenciaga. there is an online re-sale store called real deal collection where you can buy, sell or trade authentic balenciaga bags. they have bags dating back to the early 2000's and they're organized on the site by date added, colour or size. they also have regular sales which is where i found my 2007 pine green balenciaga step. it's in almost perfect condition and i scored it for approx. half of what i would have paid for a town. i'm so happy with the site's service, they shipped fast and the costs were low, they guarantee authenticity and they even have layaway. i would highly recommend them if you are looking for a specific bag shape, colour or if you want to get a gently used bag for less then retail price. it's especially good if you're outside the usa where balenciaga's are more expensive. prices range from $1500.00 for rare older styles and next to brand new bags and as low as a couple hundred for more common/gently used styles. i'd definitely shop from them again and i'd whole hearted they recommend them! ***in the current world of fashion blogging i feel i need to say that this store did not give me anything to say these wonderful things about them, i was honestly just really delighted with the whole shopping experience and wanted to share it with you all :)

green eyes

i'm loving mary kate's look over ashley here, but you can't deny ash's face. stunner.
can i borrow that jacket mk?

buttoned up

i took inspiration from miss alexa chung for this take on a preppie look. she loves to layer cardigans over button downs and i just adore the combo. the vintage rabbit vest adds a layer of warmth that really wasn't needed as it spent most of the day folded in my shopping bags. one of my favourite recent looks because i'm wearing some of my favourite things. my vintage eagle belt buckle, locket necklace, marc bag and boys polo plaid plus, it kind of reminds me of fall which is my favourite time of year. ****can you see the evidence of my er obsession, and springsteen and sienna gracing my walls.

i like these so much more then the spring ads.
they're very parisian inspired and i think a lot more "alexa's style".

current fashion obsession 11.05.10

i never been manolo obsessed, not even carrie bradshaw's worship of the brand had ever made me feel the need to own a pair, but lately things have changed. ashley olsen loves her manolos and she's been wearing two styles in particular that i can't get enough of. the bejeweled hangisi satin pumps that she has in gold and royal blue are to die for. they seem to go with any look, making it all together more covetable. they're like a vintage treasure that's been passed down, stunning. the fallo pumps are even more chic. their thin black straps that hug the foot, delicate but also very sexy. of course ash's are a special order with higher heels and a patent finish but a girl can dream.

hot flashes

it's funny how this spring has worked out. these shots are from a few weeks back and between now and then it's been so warm i'd have been crazy to wear an outfit this bundled up. of course, this weekend it snowed, so i'm back to layering once again. scarfs to shorts to shearling coats.
this coat is one of my very favourite pieces so i'm not too mad it's cool enough to wear it again. i found it two winters ago at badlands vintage. in fact, i'm wearing something from all three of my favourtie vintage shops, the coat from badlands on ossignton, the boots from 69 vintage (so comfy i can actually walk a mile in these) on queen and the denim vest from sub rosa in the market.

it's a pirate's life

so my lovely friend jessie wants a balenciaga post, but i can't do that look without posting the couple outfits i have in queue first. so i'll try to get them all up by the end of the weekend, so she can see my newest fashion love early next week. let's begin, i'm wearing two of my favourite 2010 buys in this post. a fab. vintage geoffrey cat jacket and my much lusted after westwood boots. i talked about both in past fashion haul videos, but in case you don't watch my videos (you can check them out here) i'll give you some background. i found these boots for approx.. 500$ off the canadian price. they're were 3 pairs left in the store and only one in my size, eeek. uber find. they are the tall version with the back leather strap so they don't slouch as nicely as the original pirate boots and they are knee height. i got a couple extra holes put in each strap so they fall a bit and can be folder over, so iconic! they are very narrow so i had to get a half size bigger and thus they did kind of destroy my feet the first time i wore them all day but hopefully insoles will solve that problem.

a shout out to my lovely stylist charlotte who cut my hair today and made me look like bella. that's what i tell her when i go in, i want kristen stewart hair! pre-joan jett crop of course. parlour is the best hair salon in toronto! esp. when we get to gossip and talk about true blood the whole session.
jacket: vintage (ebay), hoodie: alternative apparel, top: wildfox, jeans: ag stilts, boots: westwood

they have matching bed head...

how gorgeous was blake in the opening scene of gossip girl this week? i loved her pale coral earrings, perfect bedhead pony and the dress was unreal. long sleeve mini's are so chic. plus, the mint green/teal colour was amazing. a must have colour, especially on blonds. the episode was actually pretty good this week too, finally!

the met

my met favourites. every year it's an overload of glamour and the most beautiful dresses. i loved leighton (in marc jacobs) and taylor, all bohemian and flowy . the ultimate 90's grunge slip dresses. leighton was perfectly styled. i adored the headpiece and the floral print, my runner up for best dressed. i thought taylor embodied a young drew barrymore in ralph lauren and i love the idea of that dress as a wedding gown. anne hathaway (in valentino) and camille belle make the list for perfect sweetheart necklines, my weakness. camille was especially stunning in jason wu, both at the gala in red and at the after party in green. stam had my #1 model look. i adored the dark purple colour of her rachel roy, her perfect gold jewels and how it hugged every curve. you don't have to show everything to be sexy, **cough** blake**:) + her hair and make up = flawless. i loved katy perry's light up cute circuit confection because it was fun and very true to her personal style. sometimes celebrities lose themselves in big gowns but katy rocked katy. finally, i wasn't disappointed by two of my favourite style icons kate bosworth and sienna miller. sienna looked so radiant in pucci with jude by her side, but i think kate's beaded retro inspired valentino dress was my top pick of the night.
