sheer obsession

 

 i have this obsession with sheer, black, lacy, romantic pieces.

it probably goes back to pretending i was a sorceress or fairy princess as a kid, but it was rekindled when i saw this photo on tumblr:

i realize this skirt is not black, but it was the styling that inspired me to find a similar piece in the color to recreate this look. layering a dress/skirt/vest over dresses, shorts, jeans, or hell, whatever catches your fancy can add something so special to an outfit. you can take it very sexy and romantic or grungy and rock and roll, all depending on what you decide to pair under it/over it. i personally love the look for day time. i would pair my sheer black lace with a band tee or over sized knit over it and either skinnys or a body con mini under, then add chunky boots to ground the look. if i were to go more nighttime with my styling, i would channel stevie nicks - 100% witchy woman with, pointed heels or ankle boots, lots of lace/velvet/sparkle and tons or eyeliner and messy hair.

alpha bomb

i'm having a bit of an obsession with bomber jackets at the moment. it's in part due to a) my 90's love affair, b) a slight detective holder influence and c) a resurgence of the style once again with the fashion set, especially with the swedes. i've already purchased a new "slim line" version of the burgundy bomber i had in 7th grade. i owned a knock off at the time, but now i'm proud to finally have a real deal alpha. next, i'm eyeing the filippa k jacket julia stegner is wearing above, but i'd love a worn in vintage piece too.

true north muse - ruby aldridge

i've been posting shots of ruby ever since her cobra snake days and i'm so happy she's hit the modeling world with a vengeance this past season. not only because she deserves the success, but also because we get more street style shots of her. i love her laid back tomboy vibe, there's always a touch of vintage in her looks. how rad is that fringe jacket?

the clarins heiresses

these girls really hit the scene this season and were photographed after shows in new york and their native paris. heirs to the clarins beauty fortune, these sisters are definitely a pair of new style stars to watch out for. the first look is especially epic, i'm in awe. the mix, the colour, they really pull off something that could easily go so wrong, love it.
