true north obsession - mini totes

i've been obsessed with mini cross body totes ever since the celine nano was released. the boxy shape, the huge colorways, what's not to love? back then you could score a celine nano for around 1600$, still crazy expensive, but not unreasonable compared to other luxury bags on the market. unfortunately, i've had to give up on my nano dream because this winter their price is increasing to 2400$ a pop! insanity. i would never pay that much, ever.

that's ok though because this past year or so the balenciaga mini papier a4 has taken over the #1 spot on my favourite mini tote list. it's a lot more digestible at approx 1100$, comes in so many colors, has great zipper details and balenciaga bags have always held i strong place in my heart. i came very close to buying one this year in nashville, but it still ending up being too expensive for me at the time.

then just last week i found a new mini tote to lust after, the rebecca minkoff m.a.b. tote mini. ahhhhh so cute, esp. since it's only 195$!! that's practically nothing compared to the other two, right? right?!? completely justifiable. i will take one in navy, burgundy and/or forest green please... i know what i'll be trying to score on black friday/cyber monday.

the last of 2010 - vintage ♥

after weeks of zero blogging motivation the sudden realization that i have numerous "2010" outfits still to post and it's dawning on 2011 is kicking my o.c.d. into gear. now there's no way i can post them all today, to start fresh in the new year, but you will get one a day until they're done, so yeah! for new material. this look is beyond old, maybe mid-october? i finally figured out that the perfect companion to my vintage betsey johnson floral shorts is a loose cropped top. i adore the heart knit on this piece and that it's from the brand, pelican cove. i remember my sister shopping there when i was little, but it was closed down by the time i got old enough to wear their stuff. in fact, it seams the whole outfit is vintage :) love that. i also tossed in a mirror shot for old times sake.

family heirlooms

here i am in front of my childhood home, you got to love visiting the parents for some yummy food and good company. i'm wearing my f21 heels and pure love, my balenciaga step. a reader asked about my watch from this and my last outfit shot. it's actually my mother's omega deville dynamic. her father bought it for her 20th birthday, even though i'm sure it cost at least a month's salary. he was in the army and stationed for a few years in east timor. my mother was the oldest child so she helped out around the house and worked to support the family while he was away so it was a special gift to show his appreciation. i am so happy she passed it down to me. omega's are such amazing watches and mine even has the date in portuguese, which is a constant reminder of the watch's history in my family. so in love.

you saw a preview of this look in my balenciaga post a few days ago. the now infamous zara miu miu inspired cat dress. i'm still hoping to get my hands on a piece of that collection but until then this dress will have to satisfy me. i think it's best worn belted and it really is perfect for the summer heat, so lightweight. i wore it with my oversized vintage levi jacket to take away some of it's sweetness and my aforementioned balenciaga. how many of you bought this zara gem?

real deal balenciaga

i finally made one of my fashion wishes come true last month when i purchased my first balenciaga. i've wanted for almost as long as they've been around, which is about ten years now. of course, they don't come cheap and i've only just been able to afford one. you may know that i've been lusting over the new town shape, but when it came down to canadian prices and taxes they were just too expensive. luckily i found a better way to shop for my balenciaga. there is an online re-sale store called real deal collection where you can buy, sell or trade authentic balenciaga bags. they have bags dating back to the early 2000's and they're organized on the site by date added, colour or size. they also have regular sales which is where i found my 2007 pine green balenciaga step. it's in almost perfect condition and i scored it for approx. half of what i would have paid for a town. i'm so happy with the site's service, they shipped fast and the costs were low, they guarantee authenticity and they even have layaway. i would highly recommend them if you are looking for a specific bag shape, colour or if you want to get a gently used bag for less then retail price. it's especially good if you're outside the usa where balenciaga's are more expensive. prices range from $1500.00 for rare older styles and next to brand new bags and as low as a couple hundred for more common/gently used styles. i'd definitely shop from them again and i'd whole hearted they recommend them! ***in the current world of fashion blogging i feel i need to say that this store did not give me anything to say these wonderful things about them, i was honestly just really delighted with the whole shopping experience and wanted to share it with you all :)

i think i'm in love

i wanted to thank everyone for chiming in on which bag they liked better below. although i'm still in love with the mulbery leah, i am leaning towards the balenciaga. it's such a classic and i've wanted one forever. the bad thing is after doing a bit more research trying to track down a dark blue version of the bag i posted (i love the green but dark blue is my dream colour) i discovered an amazing blue leather and a brand new bag shape for this season. now all i want is a balenciaga town in canard blue with regular hardware, although the giant rose gold hardware on the pic above is pretty bitchin' too. i need to track one down. i mean a bag in between the size of a first and a city with a long shoulder strap that can be worn cross body, it's made for me.
