on the road - day22 part 2 - big sur

one of the things i was most looking forward to on our road trip was big sur, forever a place that had magical connotations for me, wild & romantic. the complete opposite of most tourist towns, no big chains, just independent hotels and a general store. we spent the day a pfeiffer beach, watching the waves and the seals. pfeiffer is even more special because it's at the end of a twisted, narrow unmarked road and the then boom the most gorgeous beach appears, sure it was ridiculously windy, but the beauty could not be denied. the rest of the day was spent tucked away amongst the redwoods at deetjens. the perfect miss-mach of cabins and rustic rooms, with wood stoves and little courtyards, deetjens is like stepping back in time. no locks on the doors, no cell service, no internet, just a million stars and good company. we stayed in the "new room" and my only regret was only having one night there. i will be back, it was a little slice of heaven.
wearing as before, vintage levis shorts, wildfox jumper, oakley frogskins, tiffany chain and crystal necklace
