on the road - day 8-9 new orleans

i'm back with the road trip posts, sorry for the delay. it's been either a case of so much driving and so little time in each cool city that i've been leaving the internet world behind or being in a boring "sleep over" place and having crap/no internet. i'm in los angelas now for a few days so i can get caught up.
we spent day 7 driving from nashville to new orleans. the 9 hr drive was almost completely done in pouring rain, but at least i had yelawolf, alabama and skynyrd blasting to keep me company. the sun came out as we enter louisiana and after we checked into the holiday inn french quarter (which i would rec. for a budget stay in new orleans) we headed out for po' boys. i had the peace maker po' boy at acme oyster house, half shrimp half oyster, soooo good (their jambalya is also amazing, we had it the next night when we went back). then we walked around bourbon street watching the debauchery, so nice to walk around the streets with a beer instead of being cooped up in a bar. the next day we had breakfast at cafe du monde (amazing!!! chicory iced coffee and beignets), went down by the mississippi river, walked through the garden district to magazine street to shop at free people, had a muffaletta (new orleans famous sandwich italian meats, cheese and olive spread) at napoleon house and the best greek salad of my life, took shelter from the extreme humidity with a hotel swim and finally before heading out to acme and bourbon street to repeat the night before we made a repeat stop at cafe du monde, it's a must visit!

fashion wise it was too hot to care too much about style, i wore as little as possible.
wearing: a barely there american apparel top, forever 21 floral shorts, pendleton bag and oakley frogster sunglasses.
