on the road - day 10 swamping

so this isn't really a fashion post, but i had to share with you the amazing experience i had on the cajun pride swamp tour. it's located just a half hour from new orleans on a protected part of the louisiana bayou that is teaming with alligators. in fact, before we even got on the water we saw the beast featured in this famous youtube video "cat vs. gator" luckily he stayed in the water because the kitty from the video was napping that morning. once on the water, our guide alan, told us all about the swamp, plant life, wildlife and the history of the area and the cajun people. all the while he was drawing the alligators and an adorable family of raccoons to the boat with the sound of his voice and marshmallows! the biggest gator in the area queeny wouldn't come out because it was to windy/cool in her part of the bayou, but he did feed the biggest male, a 100 yrd old, over 10 foot dinosaur! finally, at the end of the tour we all got to hold a 3 year old female gator (they grow a lot slower in the wild). she was so cute and the highlight of an incredible tour. i highly recommend the company if you're in the new orleans area.

on the road - day 8-9 new orleans

i'm back with the road trip posts, sorry for the delay. it's been either a case of so much driving and so little time in each cool city that i've been leaving the internet world behind or being in a boring "sleep over" place and having crap/no internet. i'm in los angelas now for a few days so i can get caught up.
we spent day 7 driving from nashville to new orleans. the 9 hr drive was almost completely done in pouring rain, but at least i had yelawolf, alabama and skynyrd blasting to keep me company. the sun came out as we enter louisiana and after we checked into the holiday inn french quarter (which i would rec. for a budget stay in new orleans) we headed out for po' boys. i had the peace maker po' boy at acme oyster house, half shrimp half oyster, soooo good (their jambalya is also amazing, we had it the next night when we went back). then we walked around bourbon street watching the debauchery, so nice to walk around the streets with a beer instead of being cooped up in a bar. the next day we had breakfast at cafe du monde (amazing!!! chicory iced coffee and beignets), went down by the mississippi river, walked through the garden district to magazine street to shop at free people, had a muffaletta (new orleans famous sandwich italian meats, cheese and olive spread) at napoleon house and the best greek salad of my life, took shelter from the extreme humidity with a hotel swim and finally before heading out to acme and bourbon street to repeat the night before we made a repeat stop at cafe du monde, it's a must visit!

fashion wise it was too hot to care too much about style, i wore as little as possible.

sunflowers and sunsets

i shot these right before i headed out to the cmt awards. this is the fanciest thing i brought with me, but it fit right in with the countrified event.
i'm going to miss this sun drenched/road signed backyard....

on the road - day 5-6-7

a look into my last few day here in nashville. satco tacos round two, manicure time (i love this opi polish in metallic 4 life), hanging with bo the house dog in my favourtie american apparel striped crop top and mara hoffman for soludos espadrilles, chedder grits and a mcfido sandwich for brunch, the delicious satco spread, a sweet ride in hillsboro village (1 <3 muscle cars), the nashville farmers market - carolina peaches and a perfect blackberry, bacon and cavier bbq from the farmer's market (the best i've ever had), partying with the boy to jason james at paradise park, shopping and lunch on 12 south.
i can't believe we're leaving nashville tomorrow, but new orleans awaits!
