nyc weekend. day one

finally my nyc pictures. okay, so... i guess i'll start with my awesome porter flight. great service and i was feeling like brad and angie on the island airport tarmac getting into my propeller plane, very private jet esc. here are me and my sis. enjoying the flight, reading magazines and watching csi. this is my adorable free food package and chardonnay, yum. how cute is the raccoon, they are my fav. animal and inside the pack, a mini turkey sandwich, babybell cheese, melba toast and a cookie. after landing in jersey we made are way to manhattan and got our first peek of the statue of liberty and the empire state. the line wasn't too long for the holland tunnel under the hudson. it was fun to see a different way into the city after coming from jfk last march. after a quick stop at the hotel we headed to pastis for brunch. and after sharing amazing french toast and eggs we hit the shops in greenwich village. later that night christine and i went to my favourite nyc spot, cafe habana, for yummy food and free mojitos. i could eat at habana everyday. the night ended with a jump on the comfy beds at the new four points in soho. i would highly recommend the hotel. although most cabbies couldn't tell charlton street from charles it was walking distance to all soho has to offer and right on the subway line. plus, the rooms were spacious, for nyc, and the staff was really friendly. the shopping tally for day one included, a peace sign ring and skull pin from the marc store, a green mulberry bayswater wallet and a pair of brown zip front nine west booties.

letting go

trips to holts last call can be bittersweet. you often come away with amazing deals but you can also leave behind some amazing pieces. today was one of those days. between trying on amazing alexander mcqueen cocktail dresses and the row leather jackets, i left behind one of the most amazing things i've ever worn. this incredible rick owens shearling jacket. i've wanted it forever and even though it was just over 800$ which something like 2000$ off it was still too much to part with especially just after my nyc trip. it hurts my heart knowing it was close to being mine but logically i know i couldn't afford it. argh!!! it's not fair. i also tried on those blog famous marc booties and i finally got the hype over them. on the rack they're okay but on the foot they look amazing and are so comfy. again too much money even at 50% off but i will keep my eye out for further reductions.

tweeds and checks

a definite fall outfit. tweeds and plaids always bring to mind changing leaves, brisk breezes and that golden fall light. i love the mix of the teal blue and brown together. this gap shirt not only has those great colours but also very cute ruffle details on the cuffs and button placket. the jacket is also an amazing vintage find. it's not everyday you get an oversized blazer that's fitted in the shoulder and also has details like piping and slash pockets. i'm wearing both with the mulberry bag i found at the clothing show. it's my favourite mulberry next to the perfect bayswater i just got in nyc. it's the more casual of the two though so it might just get more wear. plus, i'm not afraid to ruff this one up a bit, it was 50$ after all.

lucky charms

another day, another 90's dress. this one's more a long tunic than i dress but when worn with black tights it's totally appropriate. i love the pattern, it's flowers and three leafed clovers. very sweet. i only have one more post until i upload my nyc shots. hopefully, i can get the ones my sister took with her camera too. have a happy monday, i'm off to work.

i'm back

so back to reality. to say i've been less than inspired lately is an understatement. so that is why the lack of posts. anyways, this look was from my 90's obsessed period a week or so ago. all i wanted to wear were 90's rayon florals and blare the nirvana. i'll try and get through the backlogged photos so i can post my nyc looks and finds, including my new mulberry.

in the navy

here are those plaid pants again. i love them so much. i'm wearing them with the navy shirt i bought with them, so i guess you could say this was the outfit i was imagining when i picked up these pieces. i love that it's loose and flowy but very open at the neck and shorter so it still shows off my shape. plus it has great buttons and pockets and pretty great price for urban. i guess that's why there were only large sizes left. sometimes a size large can still look great on though like here, i never care about size and i always go for fit. i'm going to nyc tomorrow but i'm bringing my computer so i may have time to post. hopefully, the dollar stops going down so i can still afford to get lots of new things. finally, my tip of day is for everyone to go out and get the new kings of leon album. it is amazing and sex is on fire is my favourite.

luella lovin'

you all know i love luella and her fall 08 collection is greatly inspiring me these days. this little checked skirt is a piece that instantly brought that collection to mind and therefore i had to buy it. they of course didn't have my size, it's always the case. it was either buy it too big and alter it or too small and risk it being shorter then i'd like, i went for the smaller because it's less work even though i had to wait two days until it was out of the window display to get it. i decided i'd just have to wear it with tights to mask the shortness and it would look better. i styled it thinking w.w.b.d. (what would blair do) in the last photo with the schoolish blazer and bow but i wore it with the black jacket. p.s. i love my frogsters.

pants

i'm not someone who wears a lot of pants, jeans yes, but pants hardly ever. occasionally, a pair may come along and inspire me to put them to use. these blue tweedy/plaids are one of those pairs. as soon as i saw them in the store i new it was just a matter of which size and colour to buy. just days before in parry sound i was at a sports bar eating dinner and one of the boys who worked there was wearing a pair of plaid pants that caught my eye. i'm almost positive that they were just flannel pj bottoms that he had tapered in to be pegged at the ankle but they looked so cool. i think that is one of the reasons these stood out for me. i also love their zippers and how there's a contrasting tweed on the reverse which is very cute to cuff. definite favourites.

fall colours

in my first year university colour theory class we spent one morning doing everyone's colours. you know that trend in the 80's where people found out if they were a summer, fall, winter or spring. it was just a fun experiment but i wasn't surprised when i was termed a fall. the rich neutrals and jewel tones were always the colours i was drawn to and felt best in. forest green, purples, magenta, golds, browns and dark blues. this outfit personifies fall in colour.
