mini

a basic mini dress (or long top) with coloured or patterned tights is the perfect combo. great for dancing around like its the swinging sixties or heading out on the town looking sexy but understated. adding a beat up army coat and you have, "oh this, i just threw on whatever was on the floor." effortless. i just realized i'm wearing h&m almost head to toe, how very scandinavian of me.

la rok love

tuesday nov.18th, on the search for a new winter coat. 5 hours + a half dozen stores + tons of time in changerooms + tons of cash = very tired arms and full bags of loot. i spent most of my time and money in aritzia picking up another sweater coat and a couple tops. i bought a plaid biker jacket at zara and some adorable shoes at gap kids. they're sort of vans inspired in buffalo plaid. i loved them so much i bought two pairs, one for work and one for play, as they were only 19$. at the book store i hunted for the new kate moss style book but no luck, it was out of stock. instead i bought cobain unseen, to get my 90's fix, you know how i love kurt. all that shopping but still no parka. finally after a new generation sushi fix i arrived home and in my inbox was an email from shopbop announcing they were having a huge sale. they have a la rok jacket that's so cute that i've posted about before. it has a grey jersey hood and gloves that are removable, plus a jersey vest inside that's lined in faux fur and also removable. it was my lucky day because the jacket i've been dreaming of was 50% off and they had free international shipping on orders over 250$. i had to buy a pair of black toms and black chucks too because the jacket was only 200$ but the two pairs came to only 51$ as they were on sale too. now if only free people would have a similar sale so i could get these moccasins. if the canadian dollar wasn't so bad right now they'd be mine already.

sophomore nyc

introducing sophomore. it's an amazing line of basics that are nothing but, created by chrissie miller. check her out as refinery 29's style girl right now. i love how she and her stuff embodies nyc and i especially adore her zipper skirt and dress, button henley, oversized sweatshirt dress and new york crimes tee. on top of everything, prices are decent, 60$ for a tee, $115 for the skirt and around 180$ for the dresses. these are definitely the pieces that make a girl look effortlessly cool and i have to get these tees and the zipper skirt, can we get this line in canada.... now?

kristen stewart

i'm obsessed with this girl. her natural beauty, a mix of innocence, intelligence and shyness masked in aloofness. she is the kind of girl i'd like to hang out with and she's only 18. whether dressed in jeans, toms and pop tab bracelets, dkny minis or her fav. chanel with chucks and cartier she so appealing, inspiring, lovely. i can't wait to see twilight just to see her performance. i'm glad it's huge following will lead to much more kristen out and about. just maybe i see a little of myself in her too although i'm not nearly as stunning. she makes me want to grow out my bangs and get my hair of my face, my 2009 look? my favourite pic is the last one from vanity fair and the last one in the dkny dress, perfection.

all i want for christmas is u

t h e m u l b e r r y s h i m m y

in east west and regular, first seen on the arm of miss alexa chung. i love the pebbled finish, i love the body strap, i love the purple and the mirrored hang tag. so lush. i just don't love the price but maybe santa really exists and he'll reward my good behavior with a mulberry box under the tree this year.

sick day

i'm finally getting better after what turned into almost two weeks worth of sick days. i mostly just have a nasty cough now and my eye and sinus infections are cleared and clearing up respectively. thus, the outfit posts should be increasing again soon. but here is what i was photographing in my trackpants and pjs. my new chain headband from forever 21 paired with my aa jersey raglan long sleeve tee in it's new charcoal grey colour. my yummy french vanilla coffee type beverage (no dairy, so allowed whilst sick). plus, the only people that wanted to be around me, probably due to their immunity; kevin because he gave me the sickness to begin with ( although i took it to a whole other level) and rascal cat 'cause he's a cat.

rick owens 2.0

it may not be the shearling rick owens jacket of my dreams but i do love this motorcycle coat. i bought it at badlands vintage and it is probably one of my best finds ever. it was only 60$ and it's something i'll hold onto forever. i paired it here with some old and new nyc purchases. my vintage lace back boots and ag jeans from my first trip with my neon yellow striped circle scarf from my most recent trip. i have to get as much wear out of this guy before it's back to the parka because the negative temperatures are coming.... soon.

coming to america

have you heard? alexa is filming a pilot for mtv. this could mean a move to nyc and much more chung. will "poke alexa" (please don't let that be the real title) be the new trl? plus, will this lead to alexa saturation and make me sick of her? probably not, she's just too charming. mtv canada better pick this up.

get this girl a tequila

basking in the glory

i never really finished talking about nyc. my 3rd and 4th days there weren't really documented in photographs and i was waiting to get a hold of my sister's pictures. but i'm tired of waiting and i snagged this one from her facebook page. the 3rd day we went to battery park and i re-enacted scenes from desperately seeking susan. then we headed to century 21 where i bought nothing and lunch in les. after walking around soho for the rest of the day we headed out for an amazing dinner. we ate at freeman's and i loved everything about it. the food, the location and the atmosphere. citizen cope was at the bar but i didn't go talk to him because i think that's weird but i do love him. he is amazing live and son's gonna rise is one of my favourite songs. for our final day in nyc christine and i wandered the streets, lunched at l'ulivo and had their amazing pizza. we ended the trip with manicures in union square. a perfect vacation.

shorts in october

the final days of october brought with it the last warm days of the year, at least it seems that way. i had to wear all my skirts and fall dresses as much as possible before it became too cold to wear them for more than a few minutes outside. i won't be able to walk around town all afternoon in an outfit like this soon. in fact, i think i'll be bringing my old winter parka out of storage tonight to wear when i go to work. i've been feeling so awful the last week and i can't believe i haven't called in sick. all i want to do is stay in bed all day, but pushing myself to get up and dressed is helping me fight through the gross. it's a good thing i had a backlog of outfit posts to put up because my recent looks have been less then steller, all sweatpants and hoodies. i was inspired to pull out the a line minis after watching clueless last night but they might have to wait until next week. i love that movie, so classic.
