i'm finally getting better after what turned into almost two weeks worth of sick days. i mostly just have a nasty cough now and my eye and sinus infections are cleared and clearing up respectively. thus, the outfit posts should be increasing again soon. but here is what i was photographing in my trackpants and pjs. my new chain headband from forever 21 paired with my aa jersey raglan long sleeve tee in it's new charcoal grey colour. my yummy french vanilla coffee type beverage (no dairy, so allowed whilst sick). plus, the only people that wanted to be around me, probably due to their immunity; kevin because he gave me the sickness to begin with ( although i took it to a whole other level) and rascal cat 'cause he's a cat.

sick day
rick owens 2.0
it may not be the shearling rick owens jacket of my dreams but i do love this motorcycle coat. i bought it at badlands vintage and it is probably one of my best finds ever. it was only 60$ and it's something i'll hold onto forever. i paired it here with some old and new nyc purchases. my vintage lace back boots and ag jeans from my first trip with my neon yellow striped circle scarf from my most recent trip. i have to get as much wear out of this guy before it's back to the parka because the negative temperatures are coming.... soon.
coming to america
have you heard? alexa is filming a pilot for mtv. this could mean a move to nyc and much more chung. will "poke alexa" (please don't let that be the real title) be the new trl? plus, will this lead to alexa saturation and make me sick of her? probably not, she's just too charming. mtv canada better pick this up.

shorts in october
the final days of october brought with it the last warm days of the year, at least it seems that way. i had to wear all my skirts and fall dresses as much as possible before it became too cold to wear them for more than a few minutes outside. i won't be able to walk around town all afternoon in an outfit like this soon. in fact, i think i'll be bringing my old winter parka out of storage tonight to wear when i go to work. i've been feeling so awful the last week and i can't believe i haven't called in sick. all i want to do is stay in bed all day, but pushing myself to get up and dressed is helping me fight through the gross. it's a good thing i had a backlog of outfit posts to put up because my recent looks have been less then steller, all sweatpants and hoodies. i was inspired to pull out the a line minis after watching clueless last night but they might have to wait until next week. i love that movie, so classic.

in the navy
i have a plaid obsession as anyone who visits this blog regularly can probably tell, so whenever i see plaid i'm instantly drawn to it. it's always nice to find slight variations to the traditional flannel button down and that's what made this shirt an instant purchase for me. i loved the oversized rolled sleeves, they add a point of interest, and the colour is so perfectly fall. it pairs well with my navy blue vintage mulberry and some skinny jeans. not to mention my blue 60's style boots that always bring to mind kate moss, as she has a pair or two with this stitching detail. i have a skinnier heeled brown vintage pair with the same look but i'd love to find a pair in velvet. they'd be completely impractical for toronto winters but very lush.

road trip
it has been a dream of mine for some time to take a road trip across the northwest us. originally my plan was to go from vegas to san francisco by way of lake tahoe. but now i'm trying to think of how i can link in portland, seattle or park city too. perhaps starting in seattle and going south to san fran and then across through nevada and maybe utah. but, there's always the issue of why stop there and the urge to keep going into colorado. i just love the idea of getting out there and experiencing it all. logistically, it's a lot harder to imagine because i can't drive my car from toronto it would take forever and renting a car for the two to four weeks i'd need would be very expensive but i'm hopeful that one day soon i'll be able to figure it all out. this photo is a constant inspiration and a reminder of how fun it would be driving across those nevada deserts.
fall love
one of my favourite looks this fall. i just love these colour combos, brown and teal blue + grey. throw in my new bays and some sweet buckled lace ups and the look is perfection. these boots were my, "i can't afford these marc booties so i'll settle for these instead" purchase. i have fallen in love with them though and they are suprisingly comfortable. i love the thick curved wooden heel on them too, for their price they have so many great details.
my heart skips a beat
obsessed. i must own you, but maybe not in pink. why can't i be a close personal friend of proenza schouler like mk and a and they just give me one?

my throat's all horse
i'm sitting here trying to fend of the sickness and get up the nerve to head outside and enjoy the last nice day of the year, but first a post. i wore this look out shopping with my mom. i'm trying more and more to wear heels. although not possible when i'm working, i have to start taking advantage of my growing collection on my downtime. i like to walk a lot and ground my sexier and girlier outfits, this has me constantly reaching for flats, runners, moccasins and causal boots. heels are less practical and even foreign to me but for the sake of my arches and to push my look into something a little more grown up i'm trying to embrace them. i wore these new zip up heels i got in nyc with my fav. horse print dress and my fab. marc sweater coat. i loved this outfit. i'm not going to lie, 2/3rds of the way through the day i switched into my nine west suede maryjane flats but i was happy i made it that far. i got these heels in tan purposely to break my black shoe mold. i'm glad they ended up being just as versatile.
multi layer cake and out of forks
lots of outfit posts.... this one is a layered up look incorporating my new madewell infinity scarf that i picked up in nyc. i mixed it with some nineties inspired pieces, my cropped aa jersey tee and coloured jeans. all the kids wore coloured jeans in my school in 7th and 8th grade. i had a red pair back then. the necklace is made of this old key i found at a vintage show that decided to put it on a chain. the chain's a little to shinny for it but i still like the look. it goes with almost everything and adds a lived in vibe to things, grounds them. i'm trying to find a winter parka and i would like something that incorporates fur (faux or rabbit). something similar to the look below which i achieved by layering my vintage rabbit vest and my old army coat. but it needs to be one piece and warmer, any suggestions? i also have to add that gossip girl was amazing this week and i'm starting to feel so sorry for chuck but was it just me or are little j's designs just glorified betsey johnson rip offs? oh, and i'm over the twilight series. i feel hard for the second book new moon but the final book breaking dawn has put me off it completely, i threw it across the room. i'll probably still see the movie though because i adore kristen stewart.
